Torrita Shanel Holder arraigned today with two counts of bank robbery
United States Attorney Karen P. Hewitt announced that Torrita Shanel Holder was arraigned today in federal court in San Diego by United States Magistrate Judge Nita L. Stormes on an indictment charging her with two counts of bank robbery. Holder entered not guilty pleas to both counts.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan I. Shapiro, who is prosecuting the case, Holder is charged in two counts with robbing two different branches of US Bank. The indictment alleges that on April 18, 2007, Holder entered the US Bank located at 2150 Chatsworth Boulevard, San Diego, California, and obtained $3,473 from a teller by force, violence, and intimidation.
The indictment also alleges that on May 3, 2007, Holder entered the US Bank located at 4330 La Jolla Village Drive, San Diego, California, and handed a demand note to one of the tellers, threatening physical harm if she was not given money. In response to Holder’s demand, the teller handed over $868.00 in cash
from a cash drawer. Holder fled the bank, and she was arrested by officers of the San Diego Police Department within the hour.
Holder is next scheduled to be in court for motions setting on May 29, 2007 at 9:00 a.m., before United States District Judge Thomas Whelan.
