Man Charged with Claremont Rape

POMONA – A 22-year-old man who allegedly attacked a woman in her Claremont home after trying to sell her magazine subscriptions was charged today with multiple counts of sexual assault, the District Attorney’s office announced.

Arraignment for Rondie Lamont Walz, (dob 9-12-84), is scheduled today in Pomona Superior Court, Dept. N, said Deputy District Attorney Samer Hathout. He is charged in case No. KA077269 with one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration with a foreign object and kidnap for rape along with kidnap allegations. Prosecutors are asking that bail bet set at $3.3 million.
Walz, who listed residences in Gig Harbor, Wash., and Reno, Nev., allegedly sexually assaulted a woman about 5 p.m. Saturday after he knocked on her door on Wheaton Avenue and tried to sell her magazine subscriptions, Claremont police said.

Detectives followed leads from the woman and from her neighbors, who had been contacted by the suspect the same day regarding magazine subscriptions, police said.
