LAFD Captain Charged with Murder
LOS ANGELES – A 23-year veteran with the Los Angeles City Fire Department was charged today with one count of murder, the District Attorney’s office announced.
David Jaime Del Toro, 50 (7-13-56), is scheduled to be arraigned on Sept. 7 in Division 30 at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center, said Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace of the Major Crimes Division who will be prosecuting the case. Del Toro, who earlier was released on $1 million bail, is charged in case No. BA307747.
Del Toro, a captain with the LAFD, is suspected of killing Jennifer Teresa Flores, 42. Her body was discovered about 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 16 in the 5200 block of Loleta Avenue in Los Angeles. LAPD officers allegedly found tire marks that lead from the victim’s body to Del Toro’s driveway in the 5100 block of Vincent Avenue, about one mile away. Blood allegedly was found in Del Toro’s Toyota Tundra truck parked at his house.
If convicted, he’s facing 25 years to life in prison.
