Murder Filed Against Atlanta Man in Fatal Rapper Shooting
LOS ANGELES – An Atlanta man was charged today with Monday’s fatal shooting of a young rap artist at the Beverly Center.
Aubrey Louis Berry, 23 (dob 10-14-85), is scheduled to be arraigned after 2:30 p.m. at the Criminal Justice Center, Department 30, said Deputy District Attorney Robert Grace with the Major Crimes Division. Berry is charged in case BA356742 with one count of murder and two counts each of assault with a firearm, all with the special allegations of personal use of a handgun.
Berry allegedly got into an altercation at the Beverly Center on Monday with Roderick Burton, aka Dolla. He then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired, fatally wounding the 21-year-old rising rap artist and firing at two other people in Burton’s party. The shooting occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Monday in the parking garage of the Westside mall.
Berry allegedly drove away in a rented Mercedes SUV and was later arrested at Los Angeles International Airport. He allegedly had a gun with him at the time of his arrest.
He is being held on $1.1 million bail. If convicted, he faces a maximum of life in prison with the possibility of parole.
