Man Sentenced for Threatening Bell Gardens Council Member
LOS ANGELES – The owner of a towing company today was serving a 360-day jail term as part of a sentence for threatening a Bell Gardens City Council member two years ago.
Shahram Ali Shayesteh, 42, was convicted by a jury on Jan. 12 of one felony count of making a criminal threat. He was found not guilty of a second count of resisting an executive officer.
Authorities said the threat was made over the telephone to Daniel Crespo, a member of the Bell Gardens City Council, in connection with matters pertaining to the defendant’s towing firm.
Sentencing had been delayed until Wedesday. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephen Marcus imposed the term, which included an order that the defendant not get within 200 yards of the victim for the three years of formal probation after he gets out of jail.
