Alleged Party Crashers Charged with Murder, Attempted Murder

LONG BEACH – Two teenagers – one 19 the other 16 – were charged with murder today in connection with the shooting deaths of two teenagers at a birthday party in a Masonic Hall in Long Beach.

Deputy District Attorney Karen Thorp of the Long Beach Branch Office said Jonzel Latrel Stringer (dob 08/13/88) of Bellflower and Izac McCloud (dob 05/03/91) of Long Beach are charged in case No. NA077368 with two counts of murder and 21 counts of attempted murder. The two are scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Long Beach Superior Court, Department J.

McCloud is accused of personally and intentionally discharging a handgun, which caused great bodily injury and death to Dennis Moses and Breon Taylor. McCloud is also accused of personally inflicting great bodily injury on a third victim, who was wounded but survived. Although 16, he was charged as an adult.

Authorities allege that the shooting occurred after Stringer and McCloud crashed a party at the Lakewood Masonic Center in Long Beach on Jan. 19. Stringer and McCloud are being held without bail.

If convicted, Stringer is eligible for the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole. McCloud, the alleged gunman, faces life in prison without the possibility of parole because of his age. The District Attorney’s Office will not make a determination on Stringer’s penalty until the case moves closer to trial.
